I am from a large family so it follows that I have attended many weddings over my lifetime. I always look forward to them and the celebrations that follow. It's always thrilling to raise a glass in a toast to the couple. In this painting, the view of the newly married couple reminded me a bit of Pieter Bruegel's well-known wedding painting where the bride and groom are not immediately visible. Likewise, I placed the couple almost off the frame so that the focus would be on the gesture of the toast.
The painting is varnished, wired and ready for hanging. The gallery wrapped edges are a clean white.
