I spent an entire glorious day painting at Monet’s gardens in Giverny, France (during my time living in Germany) on a day when the only visitors were a handful of artists and the gardeners--it was closed to the public. When I first saw Monet’s famous lily pond I was mesmerized by the variety of color; the complicated multitude of surfaces and reflections, the sky and foliage reflecting on the water, the lily pads sitting on the surface, the stems and flowers rising above the surface of the water, and the movement of the fish and plants underwater!

This piece is on masonite board and the painting continues around the edges. The painting may be displayed in a frame or on a small easel.
