A trip along the Sea to Sky Highway outside Vancouver, B.C. inspired this oil painting of a woman deep in meditative thought as she gazes beyond a crashing waterfall. Woman and waterfall become one as her face melts into textured leaves and dripping water. I paint the poignant and tenuous link between humans and the natural world.

Getting to Know Abigail

Abigail captures a multitude of moments in a single composition. The passage of time is articulated in the ghost-like iterations of her figures despite the two-dimensional picture plane. The transparent layers of paint symbolize ephemeral layers of hours and minutes. The viewer is able to visually peel back layer after layer to understand how each painting’s narrative unfolds. Abigail is currently working toward her MFA at University of Washington in Seattle.
