Two mirrored silhouettes face each other in this contemporary diptych. "There is an inherent link between gesture, emotion and freedom," says artist Rozanne Hermelyn Di Silvestro. "The bold and gestural paint strokes express the visceral response of subject to artist to viewer. Emotionally expressive, each stroke exposes what the subject is willing to reveal."
Rozanne's working method straddles the fields of painting and printmaking. To create this piece, she painted freely on a smooth acrylic glass plate using oil inks. Then she printed the image onto rag paper using an etching press, resulting in a one-of-a-kind monotype. Finally, Rozanne mounted the artwork on a custom wood panel. It's important to note that even though the image is printed, it can only be printed once.
This piece is a diptych, composed of two separate 36" x 24" panels. They can be hung face to face as pictured, or back to back.
