I painted this scene of an old village side street to focus on the light and shadows, and on the two lamps I saw hanging above the cobblestone street. It was ancient yet modern because of the electric lamps. This piece is on 180 LB watercolor paper mounted on a cradled birch panel.

Getting to Know Robert

Robert Holewinski paints realistic places with his own spin, and also throws in some fictional characters like Shrek. He currently lives in Florida and finds inspiration in the work of artists like Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Henri Matisse and Paul Cézanne. In his work, and that of others, he enjoys being able to see each brush stroke. Fun fact: he used to work for Disney.
