This painting depicts an iconic landmark of Toronto, Yonge Street. It's the longest street in the world. I wanted to capture the colors of the sunny day. I used a palette knife to apply the oil paint. You can see texture and thickness of paint, and each stroke is different.

This painting is on a gallery wrapped canvas with finished black edges. It comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Elizabeth

Elizabeth Elkin’s paintings express a love and romanticism for travel. Her impressionist cityscapes have an optimistic and fantastical quality. Whether she is painting New York, or a small village in Europe, the scenes are equally idealistic, as if seen through the lens of a fairytale. The many layers of paint glow through each other, and create an atmospheric sense of light and space. Her work allows the viewer to see the city, or town, as it should be experienced, on its most perfect day, when there is nowhere else you would rather be.
