The poem “There is Another Sky” by Emily Dickinson inspired me to create an oil painting of the same name. I was especially stirred by this section:

Never mind faded forests, Austin,
Never mind silent fields-
Here is a little forest,
Whose leaf is ever green

I was attempting to capture the fervent emotion of the poem and the feeling of hope in a brighter future.  I created this abstract painting using archival-grade oil paint, gold leaf, and natural non-toxic solvent on a thick, 1 1/2" deep gallery wrapped canvas. The painting continues around the edges and the piece comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Cynthia

Cynthia Ligeros creates abstract, complex works that usually begin with a single driving emotion. She currently lives in Colorado and loves the work of many artists, such as Mark Rothko. Cynthia loves finding inspiration in the beauty of the Rocky Mountains. If you look closely at any of her paintings, you can find a little bit of blue sky hidden somewhere.
