The Girl in the Mirror
About this artwork
The Impressionist painter Edgar Degas was said to be so in tune with people's movements and gestures that he was able to impersonate men and women at will, explains artist Onelio Marrero. In this painting, Onelio ventures into the private world of a young woman carefully applying makeup, freezing her gesture and intensity as she regards herself in the mirror. Each gesture in the context of the figure's surroundings hint at the character of a person.
