I love to take a few moments to relax each day and enjoy a simple pleasure, like morning coffee on the back porch or afternoon tea. In this piece, freshly cut blue and purple irises from the garden are casually strewn across the table in preparation for afternoon tea. Nature's elegance turns an everyday moment into a true indulgence. This was painted alla prima style, in one sitting. The time limitation of this approach helps to keep a loose, fresh feel to the work.

This piece is on canvas board and will need a frame for display.

Getting to Know Pamela

Pamela Blaies unexpectedly discovered her passion for art. A move with her family put her children in sad spirits, so to cheer them up she painted murals on their bedroom walls. With time, she began looking forward to painting more and more. She works in “alla prima” style, a technique in which artists don’t wait for paint to dry and work with layers of wet paint. The effects of light and shadows in the world greatly influence her work. She currently lives in Texas.
