Artwork

"The still life is simple, but the combination of red and gray gives it sophistication," says artist Nikolay Rizhankov. A well-worn table stands against a muted background with cracks on the wall. A basket, a few apples, and a red mug are arranged horizontally. Nikolay exhibits a classic scene establishing elements from a harmonious color palette resulting in a balanced composition.

Nikolay Rizhankov

Aurora, Colorado

Nikolay Rizhankov was born in Moscow, Russia and lived in Armenia for most of his life. He studied fine art and Russian classical painting at the National University of Art in Moscow and graduated with a Masters in Fine Art in 1989. In 2013, he relocated to Denver, Colorado. Nikolay paints landscape, portrait and still life paintings in the tradition of the Dutch masters. He uses only the highest quality canvases, masterfully stretching them and applying a special primer that will last the test of time. This approach gives Nikolay’s paintings lively energy, warmth and mystery.

Mr. Rizhankov, this painting - "Pears" - is beautifully done. I especially admire the soft, fuzzy texture of the peach. Well done!
