Summer still life in the classical tradition. Bright, warm cherries dance in a wicker dish, accompanied by two luscious pears. Refined detail throughout, in the reflective glaze of the blue vessel, patterning in the tablecloth and the skin of the fruit. Reds and yellow set off by the cool, muted backdrop.
Nikolay Rizhankov was born in Moscow, Russia and lived in Armenia for most of his life. He studied fine art and Russian classical painting at the National University of Art in Moscow and graduated with a Masters in Fine Art in 1989. In 2013, he relocated to Denver, Colorado. Nikolay paints landscape, portrait and still life paintings in the tradition of the Dutch masters. He uses only the highest quality canvases, masterfully stretching them and applying a special primer that will last the test of time. This approach gives Nikolay’s paintings lively energy, warmth and mystery.
