Vibrant lilacs in a glass vase evoking spring, done in the classical tradition. Soft light comes from the top left, illuminating the flowers and casting warm reflections on the table and vase. Fine attention to detail throughout, with the strong compositional lines of the vase, table, window frame and leaves circulating the eye. Petals fall to the table, intimating the fleetingness of the scene.
Nikolay Rizhankov was born in Moscow, Russia and lived in Armenia for most of his life. He studied fine art and Russian classical painting at the National University of Art in Moscow and graduated with a Masters in Fine Art in 1989. In 2013, he relocated to Denver, Colorado. Nikolay paints landscape, portrait and still life paintings in the tradition of the Dutch masters. He uses only the highest quality canvases, masterfully stretching them and applying a special primer that will last the test of time. This approach gives Nikolay’s paintings lively energy, warmth and mystery.
