This expressive landscape painting was done near my home, outside Taos, in the mountains of northern New Mexico. The fields turn green as the irrigation water is released. Snow is most often still on the mountains. It is painted with loose, lush brush strokes.

Getting to Know Peggy

Peggy is an impressionist landscape painter based in New Mexico. Her ongoing journey with art began as a small child. She was inspired by wonderful art teachers while growing up, and in turn decided to become an art teacher herself. Peggy spent most of her career shaping young artists at the advanced high school level, imparting values, strength and perseverance upon them. Now in retirement, Peggy has turned her energy to a full-time art career for the first time. She works in a loose, gestural style with brightly-toned layers of paint, capturing the colors and feelings of the southwest. When she’s not making art, she likes to go hiking around Taos, always seeking inspiration for her next painting.
