"The quality of paint is thick and textured in some areas and transparent in others, which creates a dichotomy that enhances the tension," Sharon explains of this light-filled portrait. "A gossamer dress and soft colors create a dreamy, cloud-like atmosphere, but the figure has an attitude of down-to-earth confidence suggesting her head isn't often in the clouds."
Pamela Blaies unexpectedly discovered her passion for art. A move with her family put her children in sad spirits, so to cheer them up she painted murals on their bedroom walls. With time, she began looking forward to painting more and more. She works in “alla prima” style, a technique in which artists don’t wait for paint to dry and work with layers of wet paint. The effects of light and shadows in the world greatly influence her work.
