This painting was inspired by Warren Keating’s view from the riverwalk in Pueblo, Colorado. Using video that he captured with his iPad as reference, he painted this expressive, contemporary scene in his signature Pixel Impressionist style. Part of an ongoing series of aerial portraits. Pixelated and loose style of brushwork referencing video stills and digital surveillance. Simplified, contemporary color palette.
Santa Fe, New Mexico
Warren Keating's paintings start with documentation. He captures subjects on video from birds-eye views, digitizes the film on his computer and, finally, paints them on canvas in an active style he describes as Pixel Impressionism. He merges artistic elements of the 20th Century with 21st Century technology. Warren credits Futurism as well as Richard Diebenkorn and Willem de Kooning as influences in his paintings. Fun fact: Warren’s inspiration for this series came from a vacation to Paris where he photographed passersby from his hotel balcony in Saint-Germain-des-Prés.

I can't thank Warren Keating enough for this BEAUTIFUL painting. It all started with a photograph I took of my son on top of my husband's shoulders. I just fell in love with the photo, and I thought it would be a special gift to my husband to have it formalized in paint by a professional artist. I thought Warren Keating might be perfect for the job, and boy was he! He completely exceeded my expectations with this breathtaking piece. My husband was brought to tears when he received it. We'll cherish this painting, and we know one day our son will, too. Gifts don't get any better than that!- M Wall
Original. Simple. Elegant. Human. I now have four of Mr. Keating's paintings. Rave reviews from visitors. Enough said.- E Flaschen
