"Purple is symbolic of royalty, and here are seven royal and subtly elegant tulips dancing for eternity on a serene blue background," says Nicole. "Tulips were originally cultivated in Persia and Turkey, and carry great significance. In the 17th century, they were grown in the Netherlands as an immense love of the flower grew across Europe." Painted on Arches heavyweight oil primed paper, which can be framed with our without glass.

Artist Nicole Lamothe melds time and the beauty of nature in her nostalgic floral still life compositions. After Nicole's children entered college, she went back to school for her MFA and now devotes much of her time and effort into practicing and perfecting her artistic goals. The bouquets depicted in her paintings come from a variety of sources, including gifts of affection, purchased from her local florist or handpicked in her garden. Each of Nicole's oil paintings first starts out as a drawing. "When I begin a drawing for a painting, the flowers haven't bloomed," shares Nicole. "The flowers will slowly bloom and the final painting is a narrative of growth that takes place over the course of several days." In her free time, Nicole enjoys pottery, embroidery, sewing and tending to her garden. Her artwork has been exhibited in New York, California, Florida, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Connecticut.
