It was was windy, with colors shifting. I found an intimate scene with just a few reeds. I chose the spot for one set of colors and then the light changed, but it was all still pretty so I just kept going, picking up the new colors along the way. This piece is on masonite board, varnished, and comes ready to hang in a handmade frame.

Getting to Know Julia

Julia paints her impressionistic nature scenes en plein air (outside). “I wander for awhile, looking for an image or scene that feels right–that strums some inner chord,” says the artist. Her gestural scenes of streams, trees, and cattails are delicate glimpses of the serene outdoors. The brushwork in Julia’s paintings is fueled by the vibrations of natural beauty and the energy of changing light. Julia keeps a small studio in her home, but her true studio is her local Maryland parks and trails.
