The background of the piece is an off-white color (Spanish white) and is house paint.  The rest of the piece was done using oil paint.  The background has a matte finish and only the oil paint is varnished.  There is a build up of paint, and some texture, which can be seen in the photographs of it, especially around and within the orange circle.  The three women at the top are painted from a vintage photo of the Motown group, The Ronettes.

Getting to Know Amber Flora

Bigger is better. For Amber Reid, the actions required to create large art are directly linked to the power of her pieces. She loves to create pieces that engulf the viewer. She draws inspiration from many feminists and performance artists of the 60s. To tell a story racked with emotion, Amber creates work with words and lines from her favorite books or songs.
