Lisa Nielsen
Chapel Hill, North Carolina
Artist Lisa Nielsen offers soulful perspectives of the human experience in everyday scenes. A particular innocent joy shines through her passionate impressionist compositions, whether in soft nudes and figurative work or in her dreamy still lifes. What the viewer witnesses in her art is all part of her philosophy: to be still, breathe, and appreciate every small moment. Lisa initially worked in advertising art but grew to find her voice by becoming a full-time fine artist, taking still life, figurative, and portrait lessons along the way. “I welcome the freshness of new beginnings,” says Lisa. She works at her home studio with a drafting table that belonged to her grandfather and an easel that her mother passed down–sentimental heirlooms that give her emotional support. She always makes sure her ideas are cohesive before diving into something large. Outside of her workspace, she enjoys taking care of and spending time with her beautiful family–aware that these moments are fleeting and need to be savored.
A big thank you to the buyers of Love Birds and Luminous in Blue. Your support of art and giving us art makers the gift of creating means so much. Many thanks!!!
Love roses. Beautiful work.
One of my sweet patrons returned and bought another painting from me. Really honored and thrilled the first painting made her happy enough to come back for another. Thank you, thank you for that! What a day brightener and a gift!
I've heard that collectors of art need paintings in all different sizes. So happy this petit one worked for you. Thank you, thank you for your interest in my art. It's a great feeling to know this one ifound a happy home!
Looks great in my kitchen. Just the right size.
Thank you so much to the kind people that purchased Nude in Mauve and She's Into Hot Pink. Feel so truly blessed that you are able give me this gift of selling my paintings!
Just wanted to thank the kind people that purchased Havana and Garden Beauties! Your support is more encouraging than you could ever imagine. I feel truly blessed by this!
I mailed off a couple of paintings to Mr Griffin yesterday. Just wanted to say "thank you!" for your interest and purchase of my paintings. Hope they work well for you!
Wow Mr Hoben! That is truly crazy. We are neighbors for sure! First of all, thank you for your service. Our veterans are the best and they inspire me everyday. Next, thank you for the vote of confidence you gave me by investing in my art. It really means a lot to me when what I do resonates with others...I moved here to Chapel Hill a year ago almost exactly. This place is a little slice of heaven!! I pinch myself constantly!! So glad to be here in your heaven sent part of the world! Thank you again! Lisa

Hello Lisa…I just recently bought your painting "Still." I love the colors you developed in the oil and the the interplay between what's real and what's abstract. In your bio I noticed you work at the Durham VA…I'm a disabled veteran and I get my medical care from the same facility…I also live in Chapel Hill…small world!!! Thank You!
Hey Frank Thank you for your kind words about my art. It means a lot to an artist that someone enjoys your efforts. Truly. I have been reading that there is a trend for paintings that are gallery wrapped that people can just hang up on the walls. I think the simplicity of that makes a lot of sense and I can see why that is attractive to buyers. One thing about the way that I work is I might paint a piece a couple of times before I'm happy with it so tossing gallery wrapped canvases would a little tough to stomach! I did look online and saw something called Clearmont Zig Zag picture hangers. It says they are not made to hold a lot of weight but the little blue lady is less than a pound. Let me know what you think. Thanks again! Lisa
Hi Lisa- I really like your work and noticed that "Nude in Blue" was done on canvas board. Now I would want to hang it on a wall- not a frame for display. Is it possible for you to attach one of those metal devices (dont know the name) where I could just use a nail in the wall and hang the painting on the clip? Let me know- Thanks, Frank
