The shape of pears fascinates me because each is unique.  But I was inspired by these pears because of their vibrant red color.  I enjoyed painting the effects of the reflected light and radiated color.  I painted this piece from life "alla prima" style - in one sitting.  The painting is on linen affixed to archival Gatorboard, and finished with varnish.  It will need a frame for display.

Getting to Know Pamela

Pamela Blaies unexpectedly discovered her passion for art. A move with her family put her children in sad spirits, so to cheer them up she painted murals on their bedroom walls. With time, she began looking forward to painting more and more. She works in “alla prima” style, a technique in which artists don’t wait for paint to dry and work with layers of wet paint. The effects of light and shadows in the world greatly influence her work.
