Still life is a great way to improve one's painting skills. You are able to set it up and leave it up. Unlike figures or landscapes that won't sit still and change continuously. In this painting I picked objects that are, to me, really pretty. And since 2016 is my year to get better at painting flowers, this painting has much of what is relevant to me at this time. Plus I love these colors.
This painting is on gallery wrapped linen with finished edges. It comes ready to hang.

There’s a certain innocent joy that comes through in Lisa Nielsen’s artwork. She finds beauty in the everyday and often ordinary, whether it’s painting a pretty girl in the garden or spending time with her daughter at Chipotle - and let’s face it, what isn’t beautiful about a burrito bowl? Lisa likes to say she captures moments in the journey of life. What we see in her art is all part of her life philosophy: to be still, to breathe, to exhaust the small moment.
