A psalm is, by definition, a hymn or sacred song. "Psalm of Joy" is the music of my heart - soaring yet soft, crescendoing yet gentle and quiet. Pinks, purples, yellows, and oranges move forward and back adding depth and foreground at the same time. The painting is about beauty and harmony, but also about how light diverts and bends to create melodious chords of color. It is music as visual art in the vein of the Hudson River School painters, only with a wider color palette. This piece is on gallery wrapped canvas and the painting continues around the sides. It comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Cyndy

Cyndy Carstens has worked as a graphic designer, art director, illustrator and muralist, but finds herself the happiest when working as a fine artist. The works she creates are meant to get the viewer to stop and stare; she describes her work as ways to get away from the “hectic mirage, the noise and the devices that encompass most of our daily lives” and instead “recognize the beauty that surrounds us.” She has been a professional artist for more than 30 years and really believes in living her art. Her “art mind” never stops – she constantly sketches, brings her camera and sketchbook to new places, and finds objects to repurpose. She currently lives in Arizona. Fun fact: when she was little, she dreamed of being an Olympic figure skater.
