This is the fourth piece in the artist's small series of ray guns within her larger space themed collection. For Amber, the ray guns started as simple and fun studies, but began to take on deeper meaning as she reflected on old ideas of futuristic weaponry, and the question of whether or not we'll take our old ways of conflict with us to the stars.

Getting to Know Amber

Homeschooled as a child, Amber Allen could frequently be found doodling while her family moved around constantly. She began taking an online still life painting course at age 15 and became determined to pursue a career in art. “I knew as soon as I put the last brushstroke on that first assignment that life for me had changed,” says Amber. “Something had clicked into place.” Amber sources her still life subjects from real objects, images, and her imagination. She integrates geometric backgrounds into her paintings as an homage to her favorite topic from school, sacred geometry.
