Still-life painting has been a favorite form of expression for me ever since a professor of art history spent an hour on the hidden motivations and passions of various fruits of the Renaissance. The persimmons shown here, however, could not be more guileless in their bold display of color.

This painting is on a gallery wrapped canvas with white edges. It comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Jesse

Jesse’s scenes of Los Angeles capture the essence of the city with compelling accuracy. The artist’s landscapes, often set at dusk, convey the glowing natural beauty of the West Coast, but also the industrial sprawl of California’s largest city. The juxtaposition of concrete and beaches, streetlights and sunsets represents the constant tension between humans and nature. While many of the scenes appear picturesque at a glance, upon closer look the viewer sees the omnipresence of man. And yet, amid the expansive urban jungle, the magical rays of the sun manage to shine through.
