She developed a love of art growing up surrounded by artist tools and paints in her mother’s studio. At Yale, Stephanie intended to complete an engineering degree. However, in her senior year, she changed her major to art to follow her passion and completed post-graduate art studies in Switzerland. After a 20 year career in graphic design, she returned to art full time in 2009. Her time studying engineering and practicing graphic design have influenced her architectural compositions. Stephanie builds layers of oil paint and beeswax as a base for detailed carving and expressive mark-making. In her series, ‘Finding Silence’ the viewer can find elements of organic and formal structures, with the sensation of looking up through a ceiling and seeing the sky. Stephanie’s work has been featured in multiple group and solo shows including the San Francisco Women Artists Gallery, the Dutton-Goldfield Winery, and the Marin MOCA National Juried Exhibition. She works from a brightly lit studio in the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art and is inspired by the natural beauty of Marin County and the architectural grandeur of the city of San Francisco.
