A fantastical landscape lurks just over this garden wall. Peter Rabbit would forget all about radishes and would relish the view. These actual trees were purple Japanese maples, but I thought it would be fun to slide the color family just a bit into blues and mint green. Now we have a cool color oasis, tempered with warm grays, just waiting to be discovered. This painting is on a gallery wrapped canvas with finished white edges. It comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Natalie

Natalie George has been an artist her entire life. A college semester in Italy introduced her to the tradition of realism. After mastering this classical style, she began to experiment with abstraction in her work. Natalie now paints heavily abstracted landscapes, combining unexpected colors to create interpretations of reflective bodies of water. Her work recalls both modernism and the gilded compositions of 20th Century Austrian painter Gustav Klimt. The artist’s process begins with visiting a location and shooting reference photographs, followed by sketches on paper, before finally turning to canvas. Natalie’s paintings reward the patient viewer, who will discover delicate horizon lines, trees, and fluid reflections within her hazy abstractions.
