"Once and For All" seems to fit this portrait of a young woman looking upward and forward, with intelligence and resolve.

The piece is painted on a cradled wood panel with clear acrylic gesso, creating a slightly rough background texture. The work has 1 5/8" deep edges. I have painted all four sides of the panel with various shades of blue, rust, and brown, sometimes letting the natural color of the wood show through a bit. It is wired and ready to hang.

Getting to Know J.

Growing up in Southern California, J. Dunster got her start in the art world by selling celebrity portraits to fans - and sometimes even the celebs themselves! She moved on to study drawing, anatomy, and painting at Otis College of Art & Design, and now specializes in oil paintings of portraits, figures and animals. We think she has a special talent for painting furry felines! She paints to find the beauty and nobility in things, capturing emotion, drama and silliness. She says quite a few of her models act surprised by what they see in her portraits, “as if I discovered something more noble or beautiful in them. But it's not a put-on, that *is* what I see in them.” Fun fact: J. is learning Spanish (albeit slowly) by watching Spanish-language soap operas on TV.
