Standing at the top of a small winding road in Northern California, artist James Hartman worked to capture the quiet autumn light falling across the landscape. He painted the piece in a palette of secondary colors to draw out the cool purple shadows against the warm mountain fields. I developed quite a bit of texture on this one, says James.
