"Melodies of Evening" was inspired by a sunset I recently saw as I was driving home from the studio. I pulled off the road to photograph the amazing colors reflecting off the clouds in the vast sky. This is an oil painting on gallery wrapped canvas, stretched and wired for hanging.  The work has a light coat of matte varnish for protection.

Getting to Know Cyndy

Cyndy Carstens has worked as a graphic designer, art director, illustrator and muralist, but finds herself the happiest when working as a fine artist. The works she creates are meant to get the viewer to stop and stare; she describes her work as ways to get away from the “hectic mirage, the noise and the devices that encompass most of our daily lives” and instead “recognize the beauty that surrounds us.” She has been a professional artist for more than 30 years and really believes in living her art. Her “art mind” never stops – she constantly sketches, brings her camera and sketchbook to new places, and finds objects to repurpose. She currently lives in Arizona. Fun fact: when she was little, she dreamed of being an Olympic figure skater.
