I painted this with oils, inks, oil pastels and sticks.  It is part of my "Where the Lemon Trees Bloom" collection--inspired by Goethe, the German writer--and was created in a painterly style, composed of gestural drawing and painting, with my ever-present desired push towards abstraction. The collection is comprised of primarily landscapes, in varying scale with an emphasis on the concept that the contour of the land is timeless, the vision eternal.

Getting to Know Kim

Kim McAninch fills her canvases with texture, abstraction, and her own imagination. Painting primarily with a palette knife, she layers the paint in a way to express more information with less detail. Kim enjoys the hopefulness of the morning, a cup of coffee, and a full day of creating alone. Fun fact: Kim designed wallpaper and fabric before pursuing a full-time professional painting career.
