"In the heart of Rome–the Eternal City–the historic Pantheon is located," says artist Ingo Ulrich. "Residents call it La Rotonda. This cityscape that I painted in warm brown notes offers a unique view of the building's defining culture." In his tonal composition, Ingo aptly includes the bustling city life with it street cafes and many travelers. Warm light filters through the ancient architecture.

Ingo Ulrich

Freiburg, Germany

Artist Ingo Ulrich captures the splendor of the rocky mountains, valleys and big rivers in the Black Forest of southern Germany. He gravitated towards art as a teenager, constantly sketching and drawing his surroundings. At the age of 16, he received his first brushes and paints, which quickly blossomed into a lifelong passion. Since then, he’s worked to hone his skills participating in painting workshops and with the guidance of several mentors. Ingo's current series captures the nature around his home in Freiburg, where he creates many of his paintings on location. "There's nothing better than the sound of nature when painting en plein air," says Ingo. "It's the seductive sounds of wind moving the grass, birdsongs and the whispers of nature's spirit." Ingo balances his creative pursuits with a full-time position in a hospital, where he is training to be a physician. In his free time, he and his wife enjoy spending as much time as possible in nature.
