Eric Alfaro
Hialeah, Florida
Cuban artist Eric Alfaro paints vibrant landscapes and stirring portraits with a contemporary impressionist style. Eric was born in Moscow while his parents worked there and the family lived in Russia until he was 10 years old. After returning to Cuba, Eric showed an affinity for art. He went on to study painting and drawing at Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes "San Alejandro," the country's oldest and most prestigious art school. Despite his education, he says the path to developing his work has been long and complicated. "I began my studies in Cuba, a country full of obstacles and shortcomings," explains Eric. "Almost everything is lacking and it is very difficult for an artist to develop in that environment. I had to be very creative and adapt to the situation of the moment, taking advantage of whatever material I had on hand to make my art." Looking for outside opportunities, Eric focused on presenting his art on several social media networks. His efforts paid off when an American company took notice of his paintings and helped him move to Miami on a talent visa in 2020. Today, he spends nearly all of his time painting or looking at references and thinking about his next project. His art has been exhibited around the world, including at the Havana Biennial, the North Miami Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Paratissima Art Fair, in Torino, Italy.

Eric Alfaro's piece "Two Rose Flowers" marks the beginning of my collection and I could not be happier with my first piece of art. It's an incredible, dynamic piece that I will be honored to display in my home for many years to come. I loved reading about Eric's eclectic background in his biography, and I'm enthralled by his style of painting. I can't wait to see what he does next.
