This beautiful dilute calico cat was a delight to paint. Her eyes were so expressive and the natural sunlight reflected gorgeous colors from her fur! This piece was painted in oils on a cradled wood panel with 3/4" thick sides. The sides are painted in green and grey tones to match the colors in the painting. It comes ready.

Getting to Know J.

Growing up in Southern California, J. Dunster got her start in the art world by selling celebrity portraits to fans - and sometimes even the celebs themselves! She moved on to study drawing, anatomy, and painting at Otis College of Art & Design, and now specializes in oil paintings of portraits, figures and animals. We think she has a special talent for painting furry felines! She paints to find the beauty and nobility in things, capturing emotion, drama and silliness. She says quite a few of her models act surprised by what they see in her portraits, “as if I discovered something more noble or beautiful in them. But it's not a put-on, that *is* what I see in them.” Fun fact: J. is learning Spanish (albeit slowly) by watching Spanish-language soap operas on TV.
