About this artwork

In this painting, Pamela used a technique known as Contre-jour, where she backlit the figure. The strong light behind the young man creates a nice contrast between the light and dark areas of the composition, and emphasizes the shape of the brushwork. The expression of the relaxed figure is in shadow, says Pamela. What thoughts are brewing under the surface?
