"Recently in the studio, amidst a slew of projects for specific shows, I had the urge to do something unplanned, just for the fun of it; to remember what the joy of painting feels like, before painting became work. So, I created this little piece," Sumner explains of this painting. "I had no plan, and just let my brush wander. I used bright red, after working in monochrome for sometime, and added cropped arms inspired by my recent viewing of the Venus de Milo. This piece is a reminder to sometimes stop and just let creativity flow."
