This painting is part of Sheila Finch's ongoing series of California coastal scenes. "Over the span of a season, the flowers bloom in their own time and each month the colors and patterns change," says Sheila. "The flower splashes set against the dramatic coastal mountains lift and calm the spirit." The painting includes areas of thick paint, and several layers of the palest pinks, yellows and purple blooms of early spring.

Getting to Know Sheila

Sheila spends many hours studying clouds from the cockpit of her sailboat on the California coast. She's frequently blessed with beaming sunrises and storms that create beautiful displays of light streaming across the ocean or shimmering off the nearby coastal mountain range. Sheila's award-winning paintings have been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the United States and Europe. She has received recognition from the National Arts Appreciation Program, and her work has been exhibited at the prestigious L'Espace Bateau Lavoir in Paris.
