I can remember shooting baskets at the schoolyard for hours after dismissal in my elementary school years.  Even today, decades later, the sight of a weathered net and the sounds of the scrape of leather against a backboard or the airy slap of a ball on asphalt takes me all the way back.  This painting has white edges and is wired for hanging.

Getting to Know Jesse

Jesse’s scenes of Los Angeles capture the essence of the city with compelling accuracy. The artist’s landscapes, often set at dusk, convey the glowing natural beauty of the West Coast, but also the industrial sprawl of California’s largest city. The juxtaposition of concrete and beaches, streetlights and sunsets represents the constant tension between humans and nature. While many of the scenes appear picturesque at a glance, upon closer look the viewer sees the omnipresence of man. And yet, amid the expansive urban jungle, the magical rays of the sun manage to shine through.
