While the artist painted this scene from life, the aroma of lavender filled the studio. "The atmosphere seemed to calm the storms of the day," Pamela recalls. She loosely interpreted the charming disarray of a lavender bunch with free and energetic strokes, while using clarity and contrast to create a focal point of the soothing reflections of light on the water in the glass pitcher. The eye is drawn through chaos to the calm. This painting is on linen mounted on board and will need a frame for display.

Getting to Know Pamela

Pamela Blaies unexpectedly discovered her passion for art. A move with her family put her children in sad spirits, so to cheer them up she painted murals on their bedroom walls. With time, she began looking forward to painting more and more. She works in “alla prima” style, a technique in which artists don’t wait for paint to dry and work with layers of wet paint. The effects of light and shadows in the world greatly influence her work.
