I struggled to find a place to paint on this day — looking for depth in a wall of trees. Finally, I stumbled on this balletic arrangement of trees against a bright clearing. This piece is on braced masonite board, varnished, and comes ready to hang in an artist-made white hardwood float frame.

Getting to Know Julia

Julia paints her impressionistic nature scenes en plein air (outside). “I wander for awhile, looking for an image or scene that feels right–that strums some inner chord,” says the artist. Her gestural scenes of streams, trees, and cattails are delicate glimpses of the serene outdoors. The brushwork in Julia’s paintings is fueled by the vibrations of natural beauty and the energy of changing light. Julia keeps a small studio in her home, but her true studio is her local Maryland parks and trails.
