This Hawaiian landscape is located on the east side of Oahu, in the area of the Waimanalo beach and Ko'olau mountains. This beautiful long strip of soft white beach in a crater open to the sea is one of the most beautiful places on earth. The painting is heavy impasto oil with a varnish coat to preserve the finish. The beautiful frame is custom made from Peruvian walnut by the artist's wood shop. The piece is wired and arrives ready to hang and enjoy.

Getting to Know Matthew

Matthew Frederick lived on an Arabian horse ranch with his partner for 17 years, raising and breeding award-winning show horses. It was there, in the barn, where he dedicated himself to painting. Matthew received his art degree in the ‘80s, but went on to pursue a career in landscape design. After many years in the field, he burned out and felt a rekindling desire to paint. Matthew’s work is a backlash to the traditionally serious nature of the landscape genre. His work presents nature and structure with a delightful whimsy that reminds the viewer to turn their head and look again the next time they pass a familiar place that has lost its allure.
