Artwork

Part of Rachel's signature coffee series. For these pieces, she studies her extensive collection of cafetieres that she keeps in her studio. "This small still life is an exploration of belongings from my childhood and encourages the childlike imagination within all of us to come out," explains Rachel.

Rachel Srinivasan

Tempe, Arizona

For Rachel Srinivasan, an idea is worth putting on a canvas only if it still feels exciting after a few days. Rachel enjoys mulling the idea over in her mind for some time before creating an artwork. She hopes viewers will engage with her work and wonder about the subject matter, shapes and colors. “My current work is all about creating a connection between the person on the canvas with the viewer,” she explains. She prefers large paintings and sometimes even makes her own canvases. She currently lives in Arizona and enjoys baking rhubarb pies, reading, running and going to art museums.

Rachel...I LOVE this piece. It is exactly what I was picturing when we talked. Since hanging it, every person who has come to my house has commented about how much they liked it. It is more beautiful than this photo shows. Thank you so much!

My website has been updated with my new married last name: rachelsrinivasan.com. I am often live painting on Periscope as @rachelgoede. A few days ago I was involved in the David Wright House ostrich egg auction through ArtLink hosted at Hance Park in Phoenix. Next weekend I will be displaying my "Climax Jim" painting in the Inglorious Arizona exhibition at First Studio in Phoenix.

It was my pleasure, David. "Meat the Devil" was a provocative painting project that made me reflect on Botticelli and other historic artists. Thank you for choosing me!

Hi people, another "Mr. Ethics" painting is on display at White Hills Gallery in Camp Verde, AZ. This Mr. Ethics painting was the first out of 2 paintings. However, the art professors at ASU threw it away in the dumpster. An ASU grad student found it and took the painting home. In the meantime, I was devastated and made another "Mr. Ethics" painting believing I would never see the original painting again. Months later, someone recognized the second "Mr. Ethics" painting that was hanging up in a local coffee shop. I took a class from that grad student and eventually traded back my painting. True story.

Your art is simply great - love the connection between your own feelings as well as the women you depict within your art itself. Would be interesting to see a one woman show of yours...
