"This busy street scene had a festive air," says Mickey. "Some pedestrians passed by while others watched and listened to the street musician on the corner." Mickey worked with a palette knife, building up thick areas of paint and capturing the energy of the scene.

Mickey Cunningham is an impressionist painter from Minnesota who uses loose brushwork and vibrant colors to create landscapes and figurative artwork. Her work is inspired by the Pennsylvania Impressionists Fern Coppedge and Edward Redfield. Throughout her portfolio, she explores adding new abstract elements and experimental colors. In her figurative work, Mickey avoids overly specific or narrative details so that each viewer can interpret it in his or her own way.
