About this artwork

This old bait shop on Sarasota's City Island is a place that takes you back to a simpler time when live shrimp was the favorite bait for those who drifted the bay waters for speckled trout and other types of school fish, says Fernando. Part of his signature series of nautical scenes capturing the watercraft, wildlife and landscape of his native Florida. He regularly travels, making sketches, taking notes and shooting photographs to later reference in his studio. The result is detailed, intimate paintings that radiate the stunning light and tropical breezes of the Sunshine State.
