With the sun at my back and the city ahead, I caught this view during a late afternoon in Philadelphia. I loved the rich play of color in this subject, especially the contrasts between the fiery orange bricks and the cool indigo shadows.  I painted this on a "gnarlier" than usual canvas...one with a coarse weave and a lot grain. This surface allowed me to have some fun with the layered colors, especially in the foreground pavement.
