Casa Abbandonata
About this artwork
According to artist Simone Giaiacopi, this crumbling stately home represents the decline of a family that once owned many lands around it. Now the land has been confiscated to create new apartments and the house is collapsing, says Simone. While at first the painting may look photographic, in reality small brushstrokes punctuate its surface. It belongs to a series of abandoned houses that represent the long gone Tuscan rural life. With these paintings, I try to capture a heritage while it is fading away.
