People have often asked me if I own a restaurant? At first I was surprised by the question, then I happened to notice that most of my paintings were either of restaurants or bars. This particular painting was inspired by a trip to a restaurant in Wyoming. The process involved putting paint on and scrapping it off to create a more sketchy effect.
Virginia Beach, Virginia
Faye Vander Veer encapsulates the beauty of the everyday in her paintings. She oftentimes catches interactions, such as an exchange between a little girl and her mother. She once painted a work based on a young woman she saw sitting on a rock in the middle of a stream. Faye currently lives in Virginia and has been greatly influenced by Édouard Manet, Edgar Degas, John Singer Sargent and Claude Monet.
