"I made this painting as a metaphor for life - we go fishing but don't know what will show up," shares artist Liz Brozell. A boy extends his arm over the railing, holding his fishing rod low into the river waiting for a fish to bite. The background is in deep rich plums and greens, while the foreground is awash with tonal greens and oranges. "The boy represents youth, optimism, and adventure," adds Liz.

Liz is a self-taught artist who is inspired by the graceful movement of the figure. She paints both from her own photographs and from life. One of her favorite subjects, the dancer, exemplifies a celebration of the female form and the artist’s personal love of ballet. Liz’s paintings are emotional and even raw, capturing each subject with active line- and brushwork. She does not assign an intended interpretation or narrative to her paintings; “I think that each viewer brings their own response to my art, and I don't care to 'mess' with their vision and experience.”
