About
This
Artwork

Autumn still life featuring grapes, citrus, a painted Chinese vase, pewter vessel and flowers. Glowing oranges and reds on a muted greenish brown background. For this painting, Zhi Li used a more painterly technique to play up the warmth and feeling of the scene. "The process was to reduce visual complexity down to its core elements," says Zhi. "I did that by reducing values and selecting the most meaningful aspects of the set up - light shape, shadow shape and local color."

Zhi Li

NEW YORK, New York

Becoming a professional artist has been Zhi Li’s dream since childhood. After graduating from an art and design university in Shangdong, China, she worked as a designer at an advertising agency, where she received a number of awards for her work. In 1998, Zhi says she moved to New York "to pursue the dream deeply rooted in my soul." She won a special grant to study oil painting at the Art Students League of New York. "I love painting still life - the concept, light, drama and beauty," she says. Her lush, blooming and often peak-ripe still lifes offer viewers a chance to appreciate the beauty of nature while also considering the fleetingness of the moment. Zhi continually focuses on accuracy, design, depth and drama in her art. She works from a studio on Riverside Boulevard in New York, overlooking the scenic Hudson River and Riverside Park.

Thank you for loving my painting and for your patronage! I really appreciate it and your feedback. I'm sorry to disappoint you, and in the future I will improve on it and finish the edge with paint, so that it will be more professional. Happy Holidays!

The painting is beautiful and I love the way the light is captured. I was disappointed, however, to receive a painting with an edge that was “finished” with electrical tape.
