A young girl in a blue party dress sits quietly, illuminated by crisp light from the window overhead. Part of Pamela's newest figurative series. She begins her process by using large brushes to create strong abstract shapes to form the structure of the composition. She stands several feet away from her canvas and works with long-handled brushes to achieve a loose feeling in the finished painting.
Pamela Blaies unexpectedly discovered her passion for art. A move with her family put her children in sad spirits, so to cheer them up she painted murals on their bedroom walls. With time, she began looking forward to painting more and more. She works in “alla prima” style, a technique in which artists don’t wait for paint to dry and work with layers of wet paint. The effects of light and shadows in the world greatly influence her work.
