The cardinal couple who live in my trees drink frequently from a bird bath in my backyard. I can watch them from the kitchen window. The birds inspired this piece. I concentrated on enhancing the male's brilliant red. I painted the female using a more muted color palette as they appear in nature.

This piece is on gallery wrapped linen and the painting continues around the sides. The work comes ready to hang.
